i'm FINALLY finished designing my 2011 calendar. it's off to the press, and ships in about a week. phew...that took forever!

sneak peek 2011 calendar

I'm a bit behind schedule on releasing my annual desk calendar, but it will be released soon I promise! It's really hard to balance my time with this new mom and business owner gig I have going! For those that have been emailing me asking about it, I wanted to give you a little sneak peek of what I've been working on. For three years I designed my calendar with the color constraints of screen printing it by hand (2008, 2009, 2010). Although I loved the simplicity of the silhouettes, I really want to do something different this year. So, I've decided to go with full color offset printing. I'm so excited about the freedom this allows me to have in designing it. It will be a combination of scenes and nature silhouettes layered over each other (created from my own photography). Since today is Oct 1st, I thought this would be an appropriate preview image.

the merge

As all of my friends with children have told me, time has flown by at warp speed since having a baby. Three months have passed and a lot has happened at Modern Printed Matter. We've joined forces with Muse, a local jewelry shop. Muse's owner, Elizabeth, had a baby girl last year and we thought it would be fun and easier to share a store space (& the hours). Muse moved into our space in January and it's been a success! Muse carries a selection of beautiful handcrafted jewelry from independent designers across America. Stop by and check out the new setup. We hope to see you soon!

2010 Stitched Fabric Wall Calendars

I decided to design a wall calendar this year in addition to my desk calendar. I love fabric mixed with paper, so I worked with Spoonflower to print my designs onto fabric. I just received the test swatches and stitched the designs onto quarterly calendar sheets. The full fabric order is on it's way, so you can pre-order the calendars here. They come packaged ready for gift giving or hanging!
